Back in the Black and White Day

11 Apr 2020 5:11PM   Views : 551 Unique : 378

My photography started firmly with black and white negatives and my own darkroom. Happy days, basking under the red light for hours, inhaling the rich chemical odours of all sorts of noxious things, emerging finally, blinking, into the light.......So let's go back to those early days, but not too early because it took a long time to master photography in those days. We're spoilt now with digital imaging; being able to see the results straight away makes the learning curve much faster. These are all scans from black and white prints that I made myself, from negatives that I developed myself as well, so all the defects are all my own. I think next I'll look at my first digital images to see what effect the change had, but that's for tomorrow.

Always Carry a Camera

I make a point of always carrying a camera, just to capture anything and everything that catches my eye as we carry on with the minutiae of life. I was in Atherton and just heading for the shop that sells fuses and passed a small alleyway that used t...

For the final part of this short sequence of motoring based blogs, a glimpse of something that would be a terrific find for anyone. Perhaps there's an old disused barn on your land, perhaps one day you decide to clear it out and perhaps withiong you ...

Continuing the look at yesterday's classic car show, I could have spent many more hours looking at these fine machines and chatting to their owners, plus of course collecting a huge set of images. Only one car that I would like to see again seemed to...
