It's always difficult in museums to cut out people and distracting items when trying to shoot the exhibits, but one answer is to go in close and concentrate on bits of the various items on display. These shots, using the Pentax K-5 and the 18-135mm Pentax WR zoom lens, were taken at the Caister Castle Car museum. These were the bits that caught my eye.

I used to see a fair number of the Heinkel Bubble Cars in the 1960s, also the long thin Meschersmit ones.

Round and Round the Harbour

Perhaps no trip to Cardiff would be complete without a gentle tour of the harbour by boat. Starting close to the shrine lamenting the death of Ianto Jones, the character from Torchwood, the open air boat took us on a clockwise journey, and this is wh...

Cardiff, Centre of the Universe

Still on the theme of Doctor Who, Cardiff looks very much like it is indeed the centre of the universe. Temporal Rifts, Torchwood, Aliens of every description, these are to be seen on the streets of Cardiff. In 2017 Me, Sue, her late brother Mark and...

So, we meet again, Doc-tor....

There I am, an unsuspecting 12-year-old, waiting for a new Saturday evening serial about an old man who travels in time. Twenty-five minutes later, there I am totally wowed by the most exciting bit of new TV I had ever seen. Yes, the first episode of...

The Amazing Dalbeattie Museum Trust

This is a small but packed museum in Dalbeattie, Dumfries and Galloway. It covers a couple of floors in a corner shop location and is packed with artefacts, the bad news for us being that many of them are things that we have owned or used as youngste...

Golden Slumbers

There's an exhibitions of Egypt's Golden Mummies at Manchester Museum, and we went down to see it this afternoon. I travelled very light this time, in the end using just the Pentax MX-1 compact camera. The conditions were very dark and the exhibits l...

Excellent set of images and something I do myself a lot. It all started when I went into a car showroom and was allowed to take a few pictures. The showroom did not have enough room for the lens I had at the time, so I started shooting headlights etc. They were a thing of beauty on their own. That showroom was in Wimbledon and that car was brought by Oliver Reed...

The picture of the Heinkel reminded me of the Isetta three wheeler bubble car that I owned in about 1964. I used to park it in a neighbours garden at the top of a hill on a main road. Because of a small battery it would not turn the engine over in cold weather so I pushed it onto the road, with the door open, run round the front, get in, pull the steering wheel down which was attached to the door, put it in gear and hope that it would start. Frequently I ran myself over.Sad
