Manchester sometimes offers unforseen facilities and in the hottest weather this free shower system could be one of them. It is situated where Victoria Bus Station used to be, close to the railway arches of Greengate. What it is called now I have no idea. Some things don't change though and I'm sure we all remember in our younger days running happily through jets of cold water from garden hosepipes while everyone else around us swelters in the relentless heat. These pictures are actually from 2013, but clearly it was as hot then as it has been for the past few days.
Meanwhile, elewhere in the city, principally around Piccadilly and Market Street, others went about the day to day business of living.
And so the city rumbles on, endlessly bursting with life, and a superb playground for the reportage/street photographer.
