Cruising the Manchester Ship Canal

There is a trip on an old Mersey Ferry, either from Salford to Liverpool or Liverpool to Salford as desired, taking us along the Manchester Ship Canal. The last time I did this was with my Granny, when I was about 10 years old. Well, on Sunday I did it again, and I can tell you that I am now slightly more than 10. This was a cousins trip, keeping in touch now all the Aunties and Uncles are sadly no longer with us. Me, Sue, Lesley and her daughter Lucy, Keith and his daughters Cathy and Martha. Six hours of watching the industrial landscape float by, in warm and pleasant weather, chatting sometimes, grabbing a sandwich....very pleasant. Photographically, most of the trip was the Pentax K-1 with the SMC Pentax-FA J 75-300mm lens. In Liverpool, I did change to the HD Pentax-D FA 28-105mm. Here's some pictures:

It was a great day out and it starts at the car park at the NW War Museum. There, coaches take the passengers to the ship as it's a working dock and access is limited. Then off to Liverpool the slow way, about 90 minutes stopover to have a look around and back to the meeting place for a return coach journey. It all works very well and it's definitely something different to do.

Always Carry a Camera

I make a point of always carrying a camera, just to capture anything and everything that catches my eye as we carry on with the minutiae of life. I was in Atherton and just heading for the shop that sells fuses and passed a small alleyway that used t...

The Golden Days of Motoring, Part Two

Continuing the look at yesterday's classic car show, I could have spent many more hours looking at these fine machines and chatting to their owners, plus of course collecting a huge set of images. Only one car that I would like to see again seemed to...
