Doors of Old Bridlington

As we travel around, I'm always open to spotting some favourite subjects that I can add to my impromptu collections. Small Buildings is one. Doors and Windows are another, and in Bridlington Old Town we found a few interesting doors, sometimes with windows as well. Not having a shift and/or tilt lens, sometimes I do straighten things up using the Transform tool in Photoshop. So here are a few examples, shot this year as we stayed in the area. I've noticed quite a few photographers on EPZ who have been to or are in Bridlington, and it's actually, photographically, a pretty good location.

So, why doors? Doors have a tale to tell, such as the one of the Music Hall, doors conceal what lies beyond and create an instant mystery of their own. Doors are unanswered questions, as well as being architecturally interesting and perhaps even beautiful.

The Black and White Revolution

When I was beginning my photographic journey the first must-have was a darkroom. Commercial printing for small "en-prints" was pretty dreadful, averaged out exposures and didn;t handle special situations well, took sometimes weeks to arrive......Yes,...

A Victorian Town, Part Three

Part Three of our exploration of the Victorian Town at Blists Hill looks at the architecture of the place itself. This is based in the old ironworks area of course, so includes the derelict Blast Furnaces, the disused canal, the old Brick and Tile wo...

A Victorian Town, Part Two

Continuing with the tale of our trip to Blists Hill, last blog covered the Shire Horses as indeed it was a Shire Horse/Heavy Horse event. Today I'm looking at the people who are there. Some are visitors, some being dressed up as well. Then there are ...

A Victorian Town, Part One

Today Sue and I went down to Telford to spend the day at Blists Hill Victorian Town, part of the Ironbridge Gorge set of museums. We were there to see the Shire Horses/Heavy Horses day, and sure enough these beautiful beasts were pulling carts or bei...
