Experiments at MOSI

Even with a compact camera, such as the Pentax MX-1 used here, it's possible to experiment with images, and where better than at MOSI (Museum of Science and Industry) in Manchester. There are numerous interesting displays that could lend themselves to photography, and that starts pretty much straight away with this multi-camera/multi-screen display - an ideal opportunity for pictures of our family group and even self portraits and maybe for some creative shooting.

Sue and Amelia

Amelia dancing in a display of flashing coloured lights.

A self portrait using an infinity display of lights and opposing mirrors.

Another attempt at effects from the infinity tunnel, this time one that I thought I would play with a little. This is the original shot.

The final version is titled Lost In The Time Vortex, and I posted that today on EPZ.

I think the point is to keep our eyes open to the opportunities, some will work, some won't, but it costs nothing to make a digital exposure and find out. 99% of people walked past these displays and saw nothing to photograph. Fair enough, photography may not have been their passion, so I'm not judging them for that. But it does mean that it leaves the opportunity for something unusual and different, and, hopefully interesting.
