Faces - Street Portraits

21 Apr 2020 9:46AM   Views : 434 Unique : 324

There's not a lot of scope at the moment for street portraits, so I've been looking at a selection that I've shot at various events. The world is full of people with such superb expressions and their characters just show through brilliantly. Be it the lonely soldier in a sea of weekend visitors or a brightly hatted lady with matching lipstick, there's a wealth of human interest around. Street photography needs approaching with courtesy and confidence and most people are more than happy, if they notice the photographer at all. I have stood in front of people just a few feet away and they haven't seen me, some notice and we exchange smiles, some are asked if they mind, but overall those especially at events are there to play in their costumes and finery and delighted to take good part.

Here's some samples ofrom an event in Haworth a few years back.

Historic Tyldesley - Frank's Cafe and More!

There was a cafe in this building for many years, well loved by local people and run by Frank and his wife. Eventually, of course, Frank retired and the building has been under restoration for some time now. If you look on YouTube one of the urban ex...

Historic Tyldesley - The Technical College

There is a road sign that says "Welcome to Historic Tyldesley" or something similar, and for a while we scratched our heads wondering what excatly was historic about Tyldesley. Well, slap on the hand for us, because there are plenty of things that w...

Buile Hill Greenhouse - Progress Report

We were down at Buile Hill Park in Salford today, just to see how the mansion and the Greenhouse were getting along. The mansion is under restoration at the moment, but the greenhouse was set to be demolished. This was such a wonderful place, with bi...

Always Carry a Camera

I make a point of always carrying a camera, just to capture anything and everything that catches my eye as we carry on with the minutiae of life. I was in Atherton and just heading for the shop that sells fuses and passed a small alleyway that used t...
