Friends United!

Friends United, or, in other words, groups! We had a look at group portraits a couple of days ago and here's a further selection that brings us bang up to date. Groups are great in that we see larger numbers of people in harmony, which is a pleasure, or sometimes with one or two not going with the flow, which is potentially entertaining. All the photographic points about focus, lighting, poses, etc. are all still totally valid, so groups are no excuse to get the technique wrong. Practice, practice, practice.....and have fun along the way. There's always that added thought as well, didn't we look young.....

ADAPS at Bent's Garden Centre, June 2016, represented by one John Miller as the rest of the group dispersed too quickly! John is highly sought after at ADAPS evening events by the ladies as he arrives respendent in his kilt and full Scottish regalia.

Round and Round the Harbour

Perhaps no trip to Cardiff would be complete without a gentle tour of the harbour by boat. Starting close to the shrine lamenting the death of Ianto Jones, the character from Torchwood, the open air boat took us on a clockwise journey, and this is wh...

Cardiff, Centre of the Universe

Still on the theme of Doctor Who, Cardiff looks very much like it is indeed the centre of the universe. Temporal Rifts, Torchwood, Aliens of every description, these are to be seen on the streets of Cardiff. In 2017 Me, Sue, her late brother Mark and...

So, we meet again, Doc-tor....

There I am, an unsuspecting 12-year-old, waiting for a new Saturday evening serial about an old man who travels in time. Twenty-five minutes later, there I am totally wowed by the most exciting bit of new TV I had ever seen. Yes, the first episode of...

The Amazing Dalbeattie Museum Trust

This is a small but packed museum in Dalbeattie, Dumfries and Galloway. It covers a couple of floors in a corner shop location and is packed with artefacts, the bad news for us being that many of them are things that we have owned or used as youngste...

Golden Slumbers

There's an exhibitions of Egypt's Golden Mummies at Manchester Museum, and we went down to see it this afternoon. I travelled very light this time, in the end using just the Pentax MX-1 compact camera. The conditions were very dark and the exhibits l...

I'm particularly interested in the Joe Jackson comp, seeing as I'm a lifetime fan and my epz name is an homage to one of my fave songs of his. Smile

Sorry Chris wrong Joe Jackson ,this one is/was a grand old chap who was a member of the camera club, ADAPS, of which John is the chairman. When Joe died his family and the club set up a competition
to which his family donated a rather lovely trophy the comp is set as,straight out of camera traditional landscape, as Joe never came to terms with modern photo manipulation, his widow presents the trophy each year.
