In the Studio with Kier

13 Sep 2016 10:16PM   Views : 581 Unique : 378

Today Neil and myself took Kier into the studio. The intention was to shoot some Fine Art Nude, but it also strayed into experimenting with light and fashion. Very old fashion as it turned out, with medieval dresses. We spent a couple of hours, but it could have been much longer as there was so much to explore. The nudes will appear in the Gallery with the appropriate adult filter, but I can add some of the other images here for you to have a look at.

They were shot using the Pentax K-1 and the HD Pentax-D FA 28-105mm lens. We used continuous lighting rather than flash and I always feel it gives a different quality to the skin tones. In any event, the Pentax cameras are excellent with skin tones. We also used a small 64 LED light panel, which proved very interesting when trying to play with dramatic lighting effects. Quite a few of the images are with the model's eyes closed, which is probably frowned upon in many quarters, but I do like the detached look it gives.

Cardiff, Centre of the Universe

Still on the theme of Doctor Who, Cardiff looks very much like it is indeed the centre of the universe. Temporal Rifts, Torchwood, Aliens of every description, these are to be seen on the streets of Cardiff. In 2017 Me, Sue, her late brother Mark and...

So, we meet again, Doc-tor....

There I am, an unsuspecting 12-year-old, waiting for a new Saturday evening serial about an old man who travels in time. Twenty-five minutes later, there I am totally wowed by the most exciting bit of new TV I had ever seen. Yes, the first episode of...

The Amazing Dalbeattie Museum Trust

This is a small but packed museum in Dalbeattie, Dumfries and Galloway. It covers a couple of floors in a corner shop location and is packed with artefacts, the bad news for us being that many of them are things that we have owned or used as youngste...

Golden Slumbers

There's an exhibitions of Egypt's Golden Mummies at Manchester Museum, and we went down to see it this afternoon. I travelled very light this time, in the end using just the Pentax MX-1 compact camera. The conditions were very dark and the exhibits l...
