Quite a challenge for a photographer to be behind closed doors for at least three weeks, and I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't longer than that. However, a challenge it might be but there's plenty of photography to be done within the bounds of our property, so I'll see what I can think of and perhaps share with you how I'm getting along. Maybe some ideas will inspire somebody else, maybe some feedback will inspire me. There's nothing to lose, lots to gain.

First shot across the bows of lassitude are a couple of black and white edits I've just done. Shot at Martin Mere with a rather nice Zeiss Batis lens and converted to very dramatic black and white using Channel Mixer. It's a start, a new look at existing shots.

There I am, an unsuspecting 12-year-old, waiting for a new Saturday evening serial about an old man who travels in time. Twenty-five minutes later, there I am totally wowed by the most exciting bit of new TV I had ever seen. Yes, the first episode of...

The Amazing Dalbeattie Museum Trust

This is a small but packed museum in Dalbeattie, Dumfries and Galloway. It covers a couple of floors in a corner shop location and is packed with artefacts, the bad news for us being that many of them are things that we have owned or used as youngste...

Golden Slumbers

There's an exhibitions of Egypt's Golden Mummies at Manchester Museum, and we went down to see it this afternoon. I travelled very light this time, in the end using just the Pentax MX-1 compact camera. The conditions were very dark and the exhibits l...
