Lockdown Refurb Update

When lockdown came around, obviously refurbishment projects come to mind, so Sue set about totally revamping and renovating the house. Fortunately for us all it was the doll's house that her Dad made for her perhaps 40 years ago. So no £840 rolls of wallpaper, something a little more economical, and no disruption to our IT department. Phew! The project is now almost compete and I think the rooms are ready to view, along with some images to see where it all started.

The lounge

The kitchen

The hallway

The childrens' bedroom

The master bedroom

The landing

The new attic rooms

The exterior and some of the trimmings are still waiting to be done, and, as we can see, the bannister rail is still down and there are pictures to be wall mounted. However, it's almost there, well done Sue! Also well done to her brother Malcolm for major building works, especially on creating the new attic rooms out of the empty roof space.

The Pentax and the Butterfly

I always carry my trusty Pentax MX-1, probably the best compact camera that I have ever used. It is staggeringly useful in terms of functions, not too large or heavy and sturdily made. It also has a great lens, the SMC Pentax 8-25mm f/1.8-2.5, comple...

Historic Tyldesley - The Technical College

There is a road sign that says "Welcome to Historic Tyldesley" or something similar, and for a while we scratched our heads wondering what excatly was historic about Tyldesley. Well, slap on the hand for us, because there are plenty of things that w...

Buile Hill Greenhouse - Progress Report

We were down at Buile Hill Park in Salford today, just to see how the mansion and the Greenhouse were getting along. The mansion is under restoration at the moment, but the greenhouse was set to be demolished. This was such a wonderful place, with bi...

Always Carry a Camera

I make a point of always carrying a camera, just to capture anything and everything that catches my eye as we carry on with the minutiae of life. I was in Atherton and just heading for the shop that sells fuses and passed a small alleyway that used t...

What a great project. I particularly like the before and after photos. At first glance I really thought that this was a real life size restoration. Well done! In restoration and camera work.
