This is the converse of yesterday's blog, which was suggesting that as time goes by we travel further and further to find new things to photograph. That's true of course, but equally true is that very often we ignore what is on our very own doorstep. Well on our very own doorstep we are fortunate to have a few things of interest, and one favourite is Astley Green Colliery Museum, now grandly known as Lancashire Mining Museum. Run by volunteers they have achieved an incredible amount keeping this going, working towards renewing the long term lease (now achieved) and now working towards making this even more of a local amenity. Plus of course raising the cash to pay for the renovation of the last head gear in the North West coal fields. That in itself needs a mountain of effort and ingenuity to climb, but with dedicated people working at it I have no doubt that it will be achieved.
So when I need some images, which is quite often, I can always find something to shoot at Astley Green and sometimes I even look again and find something new that I have not seen, or at least not regsitered before. Here are some recent shots.
