Out-Takes from a Year

20 Jan 2021 10:24AM   Views : 847 Unique : 716

I make lots of images, many of which are superceded before they even see the light of day. This can because a better one is made, because my mood changes, because something extraordinary comes along or all sorts of other reasons. However, even the ones that don't make the grade are worth looking back at to think why they don't cut it, why they weren't used and, sometimes, how could I be so critical of one that actually ain't so bad after all.

The year chosen is 2019. Let's have a look at the images that didn't make it and see what we think.

Twins aren't born - a double yolk revealed when I was poaching eggs. Just playing really.

The Auton Invasion - not happy with the window overwhelming the picture.

Look after the pennies - the moment passed and it was never used.

I am tall - playing with fairground mirrors.

Sue is wide, and Millie Smiles - not likely to be appreciated!

Childhood Toys - my first and surviving special soft toy (Mickey, now rather worn) and my Tardis console made by myself and MarkScollon. I can't seem to get it to work unfortunately.

To be honest, not as many as I thought there might be as I'm always clicking that shutter on something!

The Pentax and the Butterfly

I always carry my trusty Pentax MX-1, probably the best compact camera that I have ever used. It is staggeringly useful in terms of functions, not too large or heavy and sturdily made. It also has a great lens, the SMC Pentax 8-25mm f/1.8-2.5, comple...

Historic Tyldesley - Frank's Cafe and More!

There was a cafe in this building for many years, well loved by local people and run by Frank and his wife. Eventually, of course, Frank retired and the building has been under restoration for some time now. If you look on YouTube one of the urban ex...

Historic Tyldesley - The Technical College

There is a road sign that says "Welcome to Historic Tyldesley" or something similar, and for a while we scratched our heads wondering what excatly was historic about Tyldesley. Well, slap on the hand for us, because there are plenty of things that w...

Buile Hill Greenhouse - Progress Report

We were down at Buile Hill Park in Salford today, just to see how the mansion and the Greenhouse were getting along. The mansion is under restoration at the moment, but the greenhouse was set to be demolished. This was such a wonderful place, with bi...

Always Carry a Camera

I make a point of always carrying a camera, just to capture anything and everything that catches my eye as we carry on with the minutiae of life. I was in Atherton and just heading for the shop that sells fuses and passed a small alleyway that used t...
