Out With The New, On With The Old

I like finding new uses for old things, something that Sue doesn't always appreciate as she's surrounded by old things waiting for a new use. Here's one that worked though. A couple of days ago my latest eBay purchase arrived, a Pentax Speedbag 110. This was intended to house the Asahi Pentax Auto 110 film camera and lenses and I thought it might do very well for the Pentax Q-S1 and kit. I already have the Pentax Q soft case that does indeed keep everything together in a very compact package, but it's a bit fiddly. The Speedbag, on the other hand, is secure and offers instant access to the contents. I renovated a full sized Speedbag a few blogs ago (a new measure of time apparently, equal to 2.5 bleems) so was delighted to find the miniature version on offer at £18.50 plus postage. I offered £15, it was accepted, and here it was, in very nice condition. Even the foam lining is intact and showing no signs of going to powder. Not yet anyway.

So, a quick dust down and clean and here's the Pentax Speedbag 110 with my Pentax Q kit installed and it will work just fine.

The Pentax and the Butterfly

I always carry my trusty Pentax MX-1, probably the best compact camera that I have ever used. It is staggeringly useful in terms of functions, not too large or heavy and sturdily made. It also has a great lens, the SMC Pentax 8-25mm f/1.8-2.5, comple...

Historic Tyldesley - Frank's Cafe and More!

There was a cafe in this building for many years, well loved by local people and run by Frank and his wife. Eventually, of course, Frank retired and the building has been under restoration for some time now. If you look on YouTube one of the urban ex...

Historic Tyldesley - The Technical College

There is a road sign that says "Welcome to Historic Tyldesley" or something similar, and for a while we scratched our heads wondering what excatly was historic about Tyldesley. Well, slap on the hand for us, because there are plenty of things that w...

Buile Hill Greenhouse - Progress Report

We were down at Buile Hill Park in Salford today, just to see how the mansion and the Greenhouse were getting along. The mansion is under restoration at the moment, but the greenhouse was set to be demolished. This was such a wonderful place, with bi...

Always Carry a Camera

I make a point of always carrying a camera, just to capture anything and everything that catches my eye as we carry on with the minutiae of life. I was in Atherton and just heading for the shop that sells fuses and passed a small alleyway that used t...

Clever man, this is a Miniature miracle!
I miss my Kodak 110 pocket camera, I've partly exchanged it when Kodak pulled the plug off the system for a 35mm film Kodak camera that still serves my sister rightly.
