We went to Hoghton Hall today to see their medieval fayre, such as it was. The stall holders were pleasant and helpful, but there weren't many of them. The cafe was adequate but not exciting, although the staff were delightful and the food was good quality, just not much of a menu. The entrance fee was £5, not too bad, but there was little to see and a guided tour of the house was extra. For no apparent reason there was no photography in the house, and to be honest there's nothing in there that couldn't be happily shot by anyone. There are guide books anyway that show everything, so it's not as though the contents of the house are secret. An outdated policy in my opinion that will have to change as the onward march of the mobile phone as a camera has made such restrictions all but impossible to enforce. The gardens are a bit sparse and most areas have lots of private and no entry signs. It looks as though there could be interesting areas within the greater wooded estate, but perhaps they are not fit for the public to explore. So, moderately unimpressed, but nonetheless there are always images to be found. Using the Pentax K-1 and the HD Pentax-D FA 28-105mm lens, this is what I found.
