That is, those that offer just a little more than just a likeness of a person, giving insight, be it in the way of their own personality or perhaps even in some idea or concept that is being protrayed. Most pictures of people I shoot do not have this extra something, but from time to time I find that one that, in my opinion at least, has hit the spot and done the job I was asking of it. Hopefully as we look for these pictures together perspicacious won't stray into pretentious, but we'll see......

I'm glad to see that we didn't get too fanciful, not all the time anyway, and didn't forget that people pictures can also be about fun. I suppose we all want to express something of our own personalities and sometimes it works for the subjects of the pictures too. Portraits and people images are not the easiest to approach, but they can be very rewarding both for photographer and the subject.

Cardiff, Centre of the Universe

Still on the theme of Doctor Who, Cardiff looks very much like it is indeed the centre of the universe. Temporal Rifts, Torchwood, Aliens of every description, these are to be seen on the streets of Cardiff. In 2017 Me, Sue, her late brother Mark and...

The Amazing Dalbeattie Museum Trust

This is a small but packed museum in Dalbeattie, Dumfries and Galloway. It covers a couple of floors in a corner shop location and is packed with artefacts, the bad news for us being that many of them are things that we have owned or used as youngste...
