Pickering 1940s and HD Pentax-D FA* 50mm f/1.4 AW

I reviewed the lens for EPZ, sent it back and then the company who sorted the loan went bust. The lens came back undeliverable and Ricoh/Pentax asked me if I minded hanging onto it until things were sorted out. Obviously it was most inconvenient to hang onto this Editor's Choice optic but being Very Helpful I immediately agreed.....So it came with me me to Pickering for our week's vacation. It certainly is a superb lens, and the quality just leaps out. It's something that can't necessarily be measured technically, but it is one of those lenses that has a special, classy character that makes it a firm favourite.

For today's blog, let's have a look at some images shot in the rain (All Weather construction is so useful) at the Pickering 1940s weekend. I really quite like shooting in the rain, because it lifts the colours and makes them sparkle. It also helps get some interestingly miserable street portraits sometimes. I actually asked the three soldiers to look a bit more miserable, so that shot is them doing a bit of acting. Bravo!

And to conclude the tale, the loan situation got sorted and the lens duly went back for the second and final time.....which is also Very Inconvenient as I really might well have to buy one now.
