Places - Fletcher Moss

There is an enclosed park in South Manchester called Fletcher Moss, which we had not really been aware of as it isn't in an obvious place. In fact, it is part of the flood plain for the River Mersey and when the river is dangerously high then Fletcher Moss is deliberately flooded. As this is a formal park, albeit it in effect a valley, that is a bit unusual, but there are warning signs at the entrance and a substantial part of it could be totally immersed. It's also great for photography.

A Victorian Town, Part Two

Continuing with the tale of our trip to Blists Hill, last blog covered the Shire Horses as indeed it was a Shire Horse/Heavy Horse event. Today I'm looking at the people who are there. Some are visitors, some being dressed up as well. Then there are ...

Today Sue and I went down to Telford to spend the day at Blists Hill Victorian Town, part of the Ironbridge Gorge set of museums. We were there to see the Shire Horses/Heavy Horses day, and sure enough these beautiful beasts were pulling carts or bei...

A Butterfly Flutters By

More than one butterfly as we were in the Butterfly House in Stratford-on-Avon. Armed with the Pentax K-3 II and the SMC Pentax-DA 18-135mm WR lens I was not concerned about the lens or camera being damaged by the high humidity, although pleasant su...
