It's a maxim that could apply to things generally in life just as well as to photography. In another life I can recall management debating and planning and refusing calls from customers while meetings were held to decide to make lists. Anything but getting on with the job and all in the name of being seen to be doing something. This is just the same in photography and when it comes down to it the basics are find a great subject and make a great image of it. This can be done without much attention to Photoshop, although it is fair to say that working in programs to create great images is also possible and when well done can be astounding. But I digress, and by and large in all things I would look at the simplest and most direct solutions first. Life is complicated enough without making it worse......
As always though, can I prove the point in images? Looking just at the past two years I have picked out these images as being simple and beautiful, in my eyes at least.
