Thanks for the Memory

There have been so many forms of removable storage for digital cameras, although arguably the most convenient currently is the SD card - small, huge capacity, relatively inexpensive and reliable. There were cameras that took floppy disks, cameras that took rewriteable DVDs, then Compact Flash, Smartmedia, SD, xD, Memory Stick, and now new cards such as the very expoensibe XQD. That is not intended to be an exhaustive list!

And now of course, ZEISS have added to the field the idea of the built in SSD with their new ZX-1 mirrorless full frame camera, my review is now live on EPZ.

Of course, it doesn't really matter how we transfer our images to the computer as long as it's convenient and works. I tend to use card readers rather than cables, finding it suits my way of working. I view and copy over the images using Explorer, again simple and it works. So is the built in SSD the future waiting to happen? Time will tell.....

So, we meet again, Doc-tor....

There I am, an unsuspecting 12-year-old, waiting for a new Saturday evening serial about an old man who travels in time. Twenty-five minutes later, there I am totally wowed by the most exciting bit of new TV I had ever seen. Yes, the first episode of...

The Amazing Dalbeattie Museum Trust

This is a small but packed museum in Dalbeattie, Dumfries and Galloway. It covers a couple of floors in a corner shop location and is packed with artefacts, the bad news for us being that many of them are things that we have owned or used as youngste...

Golden Slumbers

There's an exhibitions of Egypt's Golden Mummies at Manchester Museum, and we went down to see it this afternoon. I travelled very light this time, in the end using just the Pentax MX-1 compact camera. The conditions were very dark and the exhibits l...

Probably unlikely but what would happen if the SSD failed and how would it be replaced ?
