The 4 Sisters - Gin, but not as we know it

Today Mike picked us up and took us toThe 4 Sisters Gin Distillary in Trafford, Sue's Christmas present being a two hour gin tasting of craft gins. It is just across the way from the 7 Brothers Brewery, and yes, it's all a family of 11. So we entered a world of pure ethanol mixed with water and a base of Juniper, plus various botanicals. There's always a camera involved as well, so I was armed with my trusty Pentax MX-1 compact, still delivering the goods with its modest 12MP sensor. This of course is also the world on craft distilling, relatively small quantities and specialised recipes. We tasted several sample drinks and listened to the story of both the company and how gin is made. We duly bought a bottle of the Signature Gin, and back at home I see we already have their Strawberry Gin on the shelf. It was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon!

Historic Tyldesley - The Technical College

There is a road sign that says "Welcome to Historic Tyldesley" or something similar, and for a while we scratched our heads wondering what excatly was historic about Tyldesley. Well, slap on the hand for us, because there are plenty of things that w...

We were down at Buile Hill Park in Salford today, just to see how the mansion and the Greenhouse were getting along. The mansion is under restoration at the moment, but the greenhouse was set to be demolished. This was such a wonderful place, with bi...

I make a point of always carrying a camera, just to capture anything and everything that catches my eye as we carry on with the minutiae of life. I was in Atherton and just heading for the shop that sells fuses and passed a small alleyway that used t...

It's a good job that is a compact, John, by the size of those glasses changing lens could have been a little tricky SmileSmileSmileSmileSmile

The beautiful copper equipment looks like giant woodwind intruments , very impressive.
