The Magic of the Isle of Skye

If we close our eyes and let our imagination take over, where will we be? In Lockdown looking out at well ordered suburban gardens, perhaps looking at concrete walls, or perhaps having the luxury of looking out over green fields or distant mountains? I think in our thoughts we'll be back exploring on the Isle of Skye, enjoying the convenience of the fine Skye bridge, and in our case when we went enjoying the convenience of a week of gorgeous weather. Yes, on Skye, it clearly does happen.

Here's some of our week's journey around Skye, surely a place to return to as soon as we can.

Homo photographans, a rare species that gathers in groups and makes strange clicking noises.

Our one stormy day, looking towards the Cuillins

Peace and isolation

Not quite on Skye, Eilan Donan castle. It was cold....

The Quiraing, home of constant driving gale force winds

Gorgeous open roads

Disused and abandoned bothys

Bothy entrance hall and stairs

Bothy interior

Bothy interior and furniture

Bothy outhouse, shot through a gap in the wall

Misty morning light

That's just a handful of the hundreds of images shot, using the Pentax K20D and a selection of Pentax lenses. Roll on the next time!

Historic Tyldesley - The Technical College

There is a road sign that says "Welcome to Historic Tyldesley" or something similar, and for a while we scratched our heads wondering what excatly was historic about Tyldesley. Well, slap on the hand for us, because there are plenty of things that w...

Buile Hill Greenhouse - Progress Report

We were down at Buile Hill Park in Salford today, just to see how the mansion and the Greenhouse were getting along. The mansion is under restoration at the moment, but the greenhouse was set to be demolished. This was such a wonderful place, with bi...

Always Carry a Camera

I make a point of always carrying a camera, just to capture anything and everything that catches my eye as we carry on with the minutiae of life. I was in Atherton and just heading for the shop that sells fuses and passed a small alleyway that used t...
