The World of Monet

Never mind critical sharpness, there are other ways to view the world and the diffuse, myopic view of Monet is one of them. Our visit to Monet's garden was beautiful, with gorgeous weather and the flowers in full, robust bloom. It is easy to see where his inspiration came from, and speaking for myself, short sighted as I am, easy to experience what he might have seen by taking off the glasses. I'm not sure that my style of photography often has much similarity to Monet, I produce quite different sorts of images, but I dabble. Whatever our style though, Monet's garden, the lane outside and small cafe, also outside the grounds, all add to the general ambience. The choice is clear though. Either queue for an hour to look inside Monet's home, or experience the joy of his garden. Let's have a look at the garden.

What a magnificent garden it is, so it can definitely be added to the places we should return to.

The Pentax and the Butterfly

I always carry my trusty Pentax MX-1, probably the best compact camera that I have ever used. It is staggeringly useful in terms of functions, not too large or heavy and sturdily made. It also has a great lens, the SMC Pentax 8-25mm f/1.8-2.5, comple...

Historic Tyldesley - Frank's Cafe and More!

There was a cafe in this building for many years, well loved by local people and run by Frank and his wife. Eventually, of course, Frank retired and the building has been under restoration for some time now. If you look on YouTube one of the urban ex...

Historic Tyldesley - The Technical College

There is a road sign that says "Welcome to Historic Tyldesley" or something similar, and for a while we scratched our heads wondering what excatly was historic about Tyldesley. Well, slap on the hand for us, because there are plenty of things that w...

We were down at Buile Hill Park in Salford today, just to see how the mansion and the Greenhouse were getting along. The mansion is under restoration at the moment, but the greenhouse was set to be demolished. This was such a wonderful place, with bi...
