Dennis Bower

By johnriley1uk
There could be a definitive image to make of every person we meet; one that sums them up completely. Sometimes I photograph somebody for years without finding that elusive shot, but sometimes it all comes together and the image making process is complete. This image of the late Dennis Bower is an example of how I definitively feel he could be described. A gentleman farmer, a man of the countryside. The only things missing here are perhaps a shotgun and a dog, but even so we are left with the complete man - confident of his place in the farming community. Here Dennis was posing in front of the disused Wibbersley hall in High Lane near Stockport. The shot was made on a Rolleiflex GX Helmut Newton Special Edition.
