I like drmatic portraits and here I've taken lighting that is quite severe and half hidden Melissa in shadows. I wondered about softening her skin, but decided against it and went for a gritty effect instead.

The texture of the skin is debatable John, however the quality of the image is unquestionable

Hi John, I really like this image of Melissa, its not the usual lighting we use for a female portrait but it works very well. I would have been tempted to soften the skin tones slightly, but that's just me!

I think you made the right choice: I might have been tempted to have a clone at a couple of spots, while leaving the "real skin" texture...
