Over the Seven Arch Bridge

By johnriley1uk
Yesterday's image posed the question what is the Seven Arch bridge and what is its history. It's part of the Rivington Terraced gardens at Lever Park near Bolton, just near Rivington Pike ( a folly) and eventually leading up to Winter Hill, famous for its TV transmissions in days gone by. But back to the bridge, which carries a stairway leading to the upper part of the gardens. This view is looking down towards the bridge, which starts beyond the archway at the bottom of the stairs. It's all well worth the climb up to the top.

The eye follows the path provided by the composition, and is rewarded with a little down-up feeling, which, face it, you don't often get from a photo.
