Small Building at Arlington Court

I collect images of small buildings wherever I can, just for their quirkiness value. This small building on stilts is clearly very old and very unusual. Does the ground tend to flood so this is a novel way to keep the building clear? I don't know the answer, but it is fascinating.

It looks a substantial building, and if these are bricks we see, most unusual all that weight on a raised platform. Built on a flood plain?

This is often done in the far east to raise the buildings from rodents.
