In The Trough

By jon1169
Although this guy was a bit older than all the other kitesurfers out on Sunday he was definitely ripping the hardest and reading the waves better than the rest.

This shot was using Brian1208's Canon 70-300mm IS lens to compare quality with my Sigma 70-300mm APO. Suffice to say I'm now looking at new a lens.... especially when you compare clarity at 300mm (see yesterdays shot).

I got this exact look from one of these 'guys' on the Gare at Redcar, two days ago, when after my photographing him, he beached himself; and I asked: 'is it as much fun as it looks?' Talk about daggers.

This picture excels though.

I was going to say something similar to Terry, I too was in Redcar at the weekend photographing some windsurfers and they really dont seem to appreciate the attention!

Anyway, great action shot and i think his expression adds to the shot!

Terry, Louise, Alan, thanks for looking and commenting. Have to say the guys at Southbourne seemed pretty chilled about having their photo taken... maybe it's the difference between the North East and the South (laughs and dives for cover!)

That's more like it Jon, good detail and action.

Happy hunting for the new lens.

You are right Jon, my experience is that the kite surfers and rest of the "water-borne loonies" down here are very pro photographer, even more so if you offer to send them a few via e-mail / DVD
