Thanks for the mod. It was shot in RAW and you're right, it was ISO 400.

I was packing reasonably light so only had a gorilla pod with me - this was probably the cause of the blur in places. I may have also been using a 10x ND filter, so the exposure was probably longer than it needed to be.

Banehawi - thanks for mod - definitely more vibrant and "standout".

    Thanks for the comments.

Somerled - I have to say, whilst my camera shooting skills have improved, I'm still fairly clueless when it comes to Photoshop. Perhaps something I need to start learning.

Banehawi - thanks for the mod. I think the further crop looks good and I'll take it into account when updating other similar images (taken at the same time). I've got this image in colour so I will upload it also.

Point taken on sharpness. I didn't take my full sized tripod as I was backpacking, and opted for a gorillapod instead - whilst it's a good tool, it isn's perfect. I did take a few other shots with different exposures and timing which I might upload in the future.

Link for the filters I got: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008H34H88/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have to say, they are better than I expected for the price.

Quote:A lovely portrait which conveys the environment well, the ramshackle nature of the dwelling and the heavy smile of the child. I wonder why one eye is nearly closed - doesn't look to me like winking, maybe it's a natural defect? I like the way you've got down nice and low to meet the shild's eye contact nearly level

I think he had a cataract in his left eye. Sadly, I undersand that in these parts of the world the children don't always get to see a doctor to have a simple operation to fix the problem and this often result in them losing their sight completely in the eye.
