Cheers Missy and Katerena, I was about a mile away and safely on the cliff top using a 50-500 lens. the lighthouse is about eighty foot high this gives you an idea of the wave height.

Excellent, Great composition, colour and scale. I have a fascination of pictures of lighthouses (without a great desire to work in one!), probably because of the sheer power of the environment; this captures the structure and environment so well.

Well I think everything has already been said about this superb image! All I can say is I agree with all the comments.

I see it was uploaded in May 2009 would I be right in thinking this was the month you took the picture . . . . . must try a shot myself!

Hi Brian thanks for the comment, not really sure when I took this one without looking at the metadata, I've taken so many, its very rare you get to see the sea as rough as this, two or three times a year at best, all you can do is keep an eye on the weather forecasts and wind direction every day, and you may get lucky like I have and grab a shot like this, usually the winter months are the best. I'm also very fortunate in that I live only a five minuet drive from the lighthouse.

John.
