Evening light

By jond
The pic I uploaded yesterday got criticised (and rightly so - if people don't like something I've done I want to know - thats the only way I'm going to learn) for being hit a bit too hard with the Photoshop stick.

This is a more subtle shot. Taken about half an hour earlier and looking roughly to the west (with the setting sun out of the shot to the left).

Grey grad and 81b filters again but with only very minimal Photoshop tweakery. It'll be interesting to see if this, more natural, approach is as popular as yesterday's dayglo effort?!

Remember that if the sky doesn't add to the picture you can always leave it out. It quite often enhances the subject.

This is a much nicer treatment for me , plenty of depth and realism , not so much of the asthetic joe cornish look .

The sky plays a part of the image but perhaps not so much of it is needed with this shot, its a good one though.

Yup. Much much better. Let nature's beautiful light do the talking I say!

Its a pity that FG rock is a tad over exposed, but a lovely shot all the same.

A more natural result and I think it is an improvement.

I do prefer this image to yesterdays one but i can image that the un-pimped up version of yesterdays to be its equal. The only very minor criticism I have is that I feel is a little too bright and over saturated in the foreground ans this leads me to conclude it has been digitally manipulated before even reading your comments. I like my digital manipulation to be invisible. Great composition though, gets my vote! Click, ben

Beautifully warm light, and superb detail in the patchwork of fields in the valley below.

Thanks everyone. I'm confused now though! Yesterday's pic got criticised for being tweaked too far. Today's more subtle image is meeting with more approval - but getting less clicks! So which is the best approach?

Top to bottom beauty Jon...thanks for the run down on Dell, I guess it was an under statement to say they are not that brilliant then...Good colour in your exposure.
Doug.
