Changing Sky

By JonJ
An ordinary shot across Loch Lomond, but decided to alter the sky a bit to make it more interesting. Can't decide if this has worked...any comments or pointers for this kind of work very welcome! Thanks for all your comments so far.

The skys a nice color, and the crop is good. To improve it, I think you needed a little forground interest, a tree, a boat, or maybe some rocks.

From Lomond shores, right?
An N.D.filter would help this shot, (either before or after taking it), as it always helps create a better sky!
The piece of land sticking onto the right hand edge could be cloned out.
Still it stood out in the thumbnails,
(can't beat local photies!)
Well done

Cheers for your comments so far. Already cloned out a few bits to tidy it up, but agree the land could have gone too. Silly question, but what's an ND filter?!

Hi Jon
ND Grad is a neutral density filter, basically allows you to under expose the sky by a few stops to even out the exposure between the land and sky.
just helps get a lot more detail.

Scott, you're right, this was from Lomond Shores, just outside the shopping area. There are a few of my portfolio from Loch Lomond and the surrounding area - mostly from a holiday back in February - very very cold!
