I've just discovered your portfolio (despite having voted on your two most recent uploads, I didn't go and look at the time - more fool me!). Your work is inspirational, and I really appreciate your approach to the process of image making and the end result that produces. Your images have a quiet beauty that is timeless and quite often haunting.

Without a doubt one of the very best folios on site. Considered compositions and truly beautiful images with magical light.
We could all do well to look long and hard at excellent high quality work Jools.

Thanks, Jon, Christine, Cathy and Ian!

Ian, high praise indeed! I've always been one to seek my own path rather than to follow the same track as everyone else, so it's good to know that my images are appreciated.

What a beautiful collection of images. Your eye for composition for me is spot on. You do not try to over use colour to gain attention in an image.
I would liken your portfolio to images that might be found in the up market gallery whilst many posted elsewhere seem to aim for the type of image painted by the pavement artist at Brixham, garish, cheap but popular.
in my view your have created art work.

Masterclass. My bookmarked reference point when I need inspiration (albeit of a towering standard!).

Thank you for sharing these.

T.
You have included a very nice range of images on your P/F Julian.

What makes them all so special is the fact that they will be all new and original to the viewer who is lucky enough to visit your gallery.

Hey.... you leave my Prozac alone!! Wink and I still think you have one of the most beautiful portfolios on the site! I do regularly look though it when I'm trying to find wonderful visual examples and inspiration. I haven't managed to achieve anything of much note myself, but much inspiration does come from your portfolio!

Julian,
Thanks for the comments, I did take some with the flood lights, and I do agree on the main subject or confusion of the main subject. But I do like the shot, I am in the process of fixing a couple others with the flood lights so we will se how those go over when I am finished. Again thanks for the constructive comments, really helps out.

Kevin
Hello Julian.
Since you left a comment on my Holga - Lonely Woman i thought I'd take a look at your profile. Your Pictures are stunning, especially the shipwrecks. And that picture of the three boats in front of the snow covered mountains.. I was very surprised when I read that it was taken in the Engadin. At first glance I had a much 'wider' impression of the landscape, compared to how dense the mountains are up there. Great job!

Ah Canyon country, these photos remind me so much of the trip I had done this summer. I didnt get much chnace to hang around as I was on a whistle stop trip around the entire USA. However your photos and my experiences together just make me want to be back there taking photos.

Super shots!

A portfolio of quality, innovation, technique and vision. It deserves far more attention, can't people recognise talent when they see it?
Thankyou very much for your help and advice!
I am new at photography and im findin it very hard to learn. If you could me out at all in any of my other photos i would be very gratefull. I look at yours and feel thats what i want to achieve!
Thankyou once again
kind regards moon xx

Hi Julian this is SHM-AM just writing to thank you on your feedback, you are right the image is a montage i couldnt think how to bracket it first but the minute you said it to me it sprung in to my head, basically the inspiration was intended to be symbolic of the human need for oral and mental stimulation the city at night is used as a backdrop as in my mind its a scene which represents the negative energy best, its not intended necessarily as a celebration of the landscape and doesnt try to be,hence the drastic manipulation on photoshop the two dames are escorts into this portal i tried to create,i used the black and white to give the vibe of a prohibition/speakeasy feel.

I tried it in colour and it was in colour originally and i decided that black and white was less overbearing. But thank you for your feedback all the same

I have just had a very pleasant half hour looking at your excellent portfolio, you sure have some stunning shots in there. One thing that struck me was your composition, with the foreground used as a lead in, which was exactly the comment you made on your very useful comment on my latest effort, many thanks.

Best wishes
