Swiss farmhouse

By joolsb
I haven't uploaded an agricultural landscape for a long while, so I thought someone out there might appreciate this.

I was driving along a 'restricted' road (a local road for local people Wink) in northwestern Switzerland when I saw this farmhouse, picked out by the sun shining through a gap in the clouds. So I just had to stop and get set up. Obviously, as soon as the camera was set up, the light disappeared and I had to wait nearly an hour for a suitable gap to reappear. And this is the result, cropped down from the original 5x4 tranny.

massive lens for that cam. I would not have had the patience, so well done for that (regardless of the shot) at least it gave you plenty of time to consider the comp, and it's spot on!

I think its great. I like the fact that there is still some detail in the subtle shadows to the rear of the shot

This seems to be a very well structured composition and the use of the 300mm lens has isolated the detail and compacted the perspective very well. Excellent stuff.

Good choice of lens for your image, makes a huge difference when shooting 5x4. I always think that the perspective is so different in large format, I suppose it's the different focal lengths in comparison to 35mm. I would have to learn what the correct lengths are all over again. We have it easy with zooms these days, you don't have to have so much in your head.

All the very best yet another gorgeous image Julian,

Thanks everyone!

Hi Nick! Actually, the Fujinon 'C' range is designed to be very compact. As it's a long-focus design with a max aperture of f8.5, rather than a telephoto, it's actually a lot more compact than the correponding focal length in 35mm (which would be roughly 100mm).
