Beans & Back Yard

By mrswoolybill
I love the walk round York's city walls, you can look down into private gardens ranging from the very humble to the very grand. Little glimpses into other people's lives.
We walked almost the full circuit with Mr & Mrs Saltireblue. This was the view that kept us occupied for the longest. Beans drying on a table, an empty washing line, a hydrangea...
Malc gave you the Bigger Picture here .
We have horrendous broadband problems which may take some time to resolve, so I cannot participate here much. I'll log in when I can...
Thanks for looking,
Moira

Yes, so graphic and wonderful compo, Moira. That little hydrangea with few petals adds a lot.

Doing a bit of a 'Linda' here, Moira? Rather a lovely image.

Linda would look for the portrait composition but thanks for a very flattering comparison Alan!
I did take another picture, similar to Malc's, the ornamental chairs were very seductive. I shall go back and see if there's a portrait crop.
I almost got rid of the hydrangea, simply because I don't like pink, but Bill dissuaded me. I'm glad he did.
Thanks early birds. Touch wood, broadband is with us at the moment...

Removing the hydrangea would have been disastrous. So glad that Bill held back your axe-arm. Phew!

Not sure, it's a different picture without the flower. More about the bowl of beans talking to the clothes pegs. Here I see the hydrangea interrupting the conversation.
24 Aug 2013 8:59AM
Yes, it's a different picture. But I think the hydrangea is just quietly listening and taking it all in. Anyway, I thought you didn't like anthropomorphism??

By the way, thanks for the clip ( haven't the faintest idea how you do that )....I never got round to seeing that BlushBlushBlush ....fabulous walking-away shot. Much appreciated.
Did they pay you on a daily rate for that? ... I'm surprised they didn't insist on makeup TongueTongueGrin

Beautiful components which all sit rather comfortably together in a minimalist way. How good of the people to supply that pretty wire food cover. That makes the shot for me.

I like the inclusion of the hydrangea..adds to the overall composition

Far better than my effort, Moira. I really wanted to get down there, move some things, remove others...

I think you have a choice regarding the flower. As it is, it fills an empty space that would be too empty without it. You would need to crop instead, just above the upper peg, and then that would be pressed too far up i the corner, so yes, it has to stay.

Thought this was Malcs when I first saw it Moira Smile but then realised that the Lines where too straight to be His Wink apart from the cloths Line of course Smile

I'm in the "remove the flower" camp. I like the interaction between the beans and the clothesline. The flower seems an interruption of the flow.

I thought this rung a bell with me Moira,
so good to know about Malcs one,
and I am not suffering from that deja vu thingy.
I do recall I commented on Malcs one,I would have liked to have seen some frilly undies drying on the line,
and the same applies to your one !!

I like the washing line opposing the beans. And that hint of flower. Found myself looking for something in the last corner... oh yes there is a hint of moisture green..
that is a montage made by an excellent crop!
