You should have no problem cropping this, converting to mono and you should get a nice 8x6.
If you have Lightroom, import the image and in the develop module take the highlight slider down to put detail into the blown parts of the sky and it will look great.

This image has a very nice range of tones and has been very well captured.

You don't seem to get any comments on your car shots which I think is a shame, I have one or two things I would like to say about your images.
Although the cars are very sharp I feel as though they lack a sense of movement, these things are traveling quite quickly but your images don't convey this.
A couple of things to try is using a slower shutter speed to at least get some motion in the wheels, the cars look as if they could be parked and also don't crop them quite so tight, anything in motion needs space to move into.
I don't know if you have tried panning with the cars, when this is done properly it gives a wonderful impression of speed and you can use quite a slow shutter speed which blurs the background to great effect.
Anyway you do produce some very good images of the cars you go to watch, keep posting and sooner or later someone will comment.

Really like this one, I think the fence adds to the image and I'm glad you presented it as a mono, i think colour would've killed it, there's only on problem with it and that's i didn't take it, super image well done.

I really like the light in this fabulous portrait but I think the image could be stronger still if you put the gentleman on the right third by cropping the right side, try it!

You can improve this image in levels, if you open a levels adjustment layer in Photoshop and dial in 21 - 0.85 - 225 in the top boxes and 0 and 223 in the bottom boxes then increase the contrast in a brightness/ contrast adjustment layer to +20 the image comes to life, give it a go.

Excellent timing, just a pity it's overexposed.
