Possibly for v1 not only the wrong angle for the light but the clouds are too much of a "blanket", needed to be more broken up.
Also, the right hand pebble area almost look B&W
v2 / v3 are fine by me, just right. Really like the cloud pattern in v3
The only trouble is, you have blown my next two uploads, as I have almost identical shots
