Flaps down, gear extended,...

Was out at the local river today with about 1000 ducks and one beaver. Took awhile but finally got a duck landing reasonably close.

One way to not run out of disk space is to delete half of the photos you take...

How's the DoF on this one?

The dof is perfect. I looked at this & thought it was on its side . Don't matter cos you have caught the mallard perfectly

great timing with this shot. The colours of the mallard is great.

Fantastic timing and great dof - pin sharp on the mallard with a wonderfully diffused background showing just enough detail to set the duck in context. Well taken.

Only slight criticism might be that a little less space overhead and a little more for the duck to "fly into" might have been better though I appreciate that's much more easily said than done - you'll notice my only duck photo has them sitting in water!!

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions. I tried cropping a little less,as FeePhoto suggested, and it looks pretty good too - I see your point. Unfortunately there's another duck in the space he'd be flying into, but that doesn't take away from the concept.
