West Block in reflection

By jwatt
This is a reflection of the West Block of Canada's Parliament Buildings. When the photo is larger it looks better but this is ok too.

The green roof is oxidized copper.

Politicians should reflect on their actions a bit more too.

I would have been tempted to crop out the lantern on the left as well as most of the trees. Just leave a bit of framing by the trees maybe and add a bit more contrast. But well spotted. Elke

I tried to do exactly that but ran into the problem of part of the building being cropped as well. Would having part of the building cropped have hurt the photo?

I tried out a crop on this one and decided that the frame I suggested (with some parts of the trees left in the picture) is weak and detracts from the photograph, instead of improving it. At least it adds nothing to the composition. Therefore, I would go for a very tight crop on the refection of the building without any distracting surrounding, even if the building itself is cropped. In my opinion this would improve the photo. But than again it's all about taste... Elke
