    Hi Moira,

thanks very much for your positive comments. I'm pleased you connected with the shot in both senses!
I can see where you are coming from and agree it could be a nice project to concentrate on those aspects you mentioned...i'll see what i can do although it might take a while to organise as my son returns back to Uni today after a month at home.

One of the reasons i posted this particular shot was that it didn't show his face as i'm wary of posting detailed facial shots of friends/relatives online if I think they might not be entirely happy about this.

Another option for me is to get other club members to participate...some i'm sure would be happy to pose/model whilst they shot. Leave it with me and i'll see what i can do...i'm quite intrigued myself with how this could develop.

Many thanks again and thanks also to ShotfromaCanon and mogobiker for your votes.

P.S Just one other thing...when I view the image in the main Gallery my title doesn't match my image...it seems to have been mixed up with that from an adjacent image in the Gallery...is it just on my computer or are other people getting that as well?

  • Retro Dash

Deciding the actual point of focus in an image is often a matter of experimentation coupled with personal preference. I could have reduced the focal length slightly but was conscious that i risked having stuff intrude from through the main windscreen...there was already an A4 piece of paper with details about the car lying on top of the dash which you can make out, but hopefully which doesn't intrude too much...I was more interested in capturing the dated instruments/feel of the dash which looked like something from the Clint Eastwood era.

On this occasion the interior didn't quite match up with what you might have expected from seeing the exterior of the car, condition wise.

David...any resemblance to your image is completely unintentional! The windows on most of the cars on display were wound down as it was a hot day enabling one to peer inside...many owners seemed to encourage photos of the interiors by placing suitable 'props' within to enhance the feel and experience of the occasion. I also took some similar dash shots from a nice Jaguar...i'll post one tomorrow just to add some geographic balance.

Thanks to both of you for taking the time to comment...much appreciated as always. Smile

  • Snowdon Mountain Railway

Thanks Netta...yes it was a brilliant day out...weather was good as was the company.

Initially when planning this day out I thought we might walk up and get the train down. The train was fully booked though as of a few days ago so we walked both ways to/from Llanberis...the easiest way up I believe
although it was quite a long slog...about 9-9.5 miles for the return journey. The trains though provided a useful distraction given that i'd taken my camera. Great cafe on top too!

  • F35B Hovering

Aircraft has come out well in the adjustment made at the expense of the sky. I do try and keep sky looking
as natural as possible although I admit against a low contrast aeroplane our murky greys and blues don't do the subject matter any favours.

The original image needed lightening slightly to bring out detail in the under-wing shadow...maybe have just over done it.

Thanks for taking the time...always useful to view something through someone elses eyes.

  • His 'n Hers

Thanks all for your comments and votes.

I couldn't believe the diameter of the lens hood on the Nikon...it was like a waste paper basket on the end. The guy using it looks like he might have had a bad back later...his partner seems to have acquired a much better posture.

Hopefully they both got some fab images to compensate.
