Penguin Soldiers

By KangaGal
Hi everyone

Had the best trip recently with our daughter Bron, including a 2 week cruise of Antarctica. We chose a smaller vessel and a more adventurous company which meant we had 2-3 trips by zodiac a day and Pete got to do some kayaking. Saw the most amazing icebergs, pristine scenery, research stations, and of course wildlife. Not too many seals but heaps of penguins. Each colony was at a different stage but all had eggs and/or chicks. Had to give them a 5 metre space but at one colony they were nesting in close rows so we got very close to these without disturbing them. Saw 3 main types. These are Gentoo's. Was so hard to pick one to upload - think there will be others!
Hope you all had a great Christmas and I wish each of you a wonderful 2009 - roll on the photos!

Cheers, Jenny
