The Touch

By Kanovalov
Another pre-photoshoot with my friend Jess. 20sec open exposure in a dark room and I used my flash unit into the window from the outside. Also I enhanced this with PSCS2.

Leave a Critique if you want, be hard-core... I want to know what you like and don't like about all my photography. State your mind, I wont take offence. This is all learning for me.

I like the effect it's different and well executed - would have liked to see the bottom hand perhaps?

Quite original and well done. The light through the fingers is a nice finishing touch. The bottom hand out of the frame is fine.

like it a lot, the blown highlights on your models arm are a little distracting tho, maybe half the flash power if you shoot it again ? , it might also be interesting to switch the focus point to the reflection rather than the model, i like your ideas anyway, click, cheers martyn

there isnt much to dislike about this, I love the idea and the pose, only thing that stuck me straight away is the over exposure of the top arm takes the eye, love the reflection and the soft texture :o)

I think this is great Aaron. Really interesting setup and composition. I personally find her reflected image a bit of a distraction along with the textured glass. Seems to be inconsistent with the rest of the theme of the image. Great job though!

thanks for all the comments. Yes! I agree that her other hand probably needed to be in frame, and the window would have been soo much better if it were an old victorian window or something not so modern. The over exposure of her arm is distracting, nice call.

I like this one as well, the emotion comes across well.
I think the best bet with the lighting would be to have Jess's hair sitting on her right shoulder, as I think dropping the flash output would have a detrimental effect on the fantastic lighting on the skin.

Aaron I think you're totally on the right track given your direction on the Gothic/Fantasy path that you mention in your intro. I am going to be playing around with that too with a friend who has the right look. Details are everything and there are already some amazing shots on epz in that genre. Well done with this one.
