Just looked at your profile and like me you spent years wasting money when using a film camera, I started having mine processed as slides and used a viewer to look at them. Digital cameras and photos have become such a way of life for me I forget about the housework, lol. Even when I am gardening my camera is in my pocket, when I go shopping too, much to my husband's horror sometimes. I enter daily challenges too. If you fancy joining have a little look at http://chat-photography.com/board/

Looks as though you have an interest in moths and butterflies Impressive Quality!. I don't know who is an insect specialist here on ePZ so I hope you could have a look at Bug Troubles just uploaded. Not very pretty, yet so curious there was no choice but to post it. TG

Thanks for the comments on my Pharaoh Hound Photos. I see you have a lot of cats. They just wouldn't be safe around my hounds. LOL Pharaohs are OK with them if raised with them fro puppyhood. My girl Lottie loves to chase butterflies so if I am out with dogs and camera I don't stand a chance of shooting butterflies etc. I am usually taking one handed photographs - camera in one hand and dogs leads altogether in the other unless I can find a secure enclosed area in which to let them off. LOL

Karan, thanks for your vote on the May Bug, they can look quite formidable creachers don't you think.
Sounds you need a box in the bedroom to see the view. :) l lived on the Quantock Hills, North Somerset and could see right across to Exmoor. If you stood on the top not only Exmoor but 180 degrees was the Bristol channel and Wales so on a clear day WOW. My choice for a retirement home would be Devon though, got any empty sheds. :D Bruce

Hi KarenFB.
Thankyou for you kind comment regarding 'Baby eyes' or 'Yoda' :-).
I didn't tick or un-tick the right box for the voting bit, DOH!!!
I purposely put mum out of focus as to concentrate the eye to the baby. If she was in focus, I believe the picture would be too fussy, but she's there for context (sounds like I know what I'm doing, but I'm still playing and learning).
Thankyou once again for commentating and I must say your pix are cracking!

P.S. The Hummingbird hawk moth photo was taken in France recently and like you. i haven't seen them in the garden (usualy on the Budlia) since 26th July 2006 which is the last time i photographed one in the UK. But who knows, they may yet make an appearance :-)

My favourite is the photograph titled '' 1st January 2010 ''. A perfect photograph for the new year. :)

hi, im James one of the junior members. I have looked at most of your pictures and commented on some. It's looks like you definitely know where to find butterflies! I went to the Buckfastleigh Butterfly and Otter sanctuary today and i was fortunate enough to see two owl butterflies hatch which i captured on camera from start to finish. For the next few weeks i will probably be uploading pictures of butterflies as i took 639 pictures (Of course a good hundred are of the hatching) I also manged to get a good 20 pictures of a male atlas which i saw you had photographed when you were there aswell. I love your portfolio picture. Is it a type of swallow tail ?

Hi Louise and Lucy, as you are both new members and I can't Private Message you (you will have to wait one month before you can Private Message), I shall try to answer your queries here and hope you come back to read it! :)
Louise first: I have Photoshop Elements 4 (there are programmes you can download for free from the internet). This allows me to change the image (hopefully for the better). There is a tool you can use which will 'cut off/crop' bits of the image you don't want to keep. There are also other tools which will let you change the colours, sharpness, backgrounds etc. Some people feel such programmes should not be used, but I find them very helpful!!
When I said "Crop from left and right" I meant I'd use the tool and remove some of the image - just leaving the Rose.
Lucy: I'm not quite sure which challenges you mean. If it's the Junior Competition, all you do is upload as normal on the 13th August, in your portfolio titling the image "Wildlife" and we shall know you wish to enter that image into the competition. If this isn't what you mean, then come back to me and I'll try to help you further! :)
Thank you both for your kind words! :)

Hi Karen, your photographs are so beautifully taken. You have given me the inspiration to keep going my nature shots. I have a long way to go but any tips on how to get the best results would be very much appreciated.
Thank you for your comments on my Poppy-licious photograph. I live in Orpington Kent, and this field is very near to where I live. I took it as I was coming down a hill. I have to say that I did clean the image from telegraph wires and aerials which were spoiling the look.
Keep up with your fab photography.

Hi! Karen. I know that the date facility in my photos is irritating you but what can I do? These photos were taken earlier as you can see the dates. Now how can I remove them? The photos which will be taken by me from now on will surely no be filled with dates. But if you have some suggestion to remove the dates from my earlier photos than please surely don't lose time to give it.
