Thames Barrier

By KarlmarxEra
Taken around midday this August. I liked the arrows pointing to the middle boat, adding colour to the otherwise grey picture!. Bit lucky to be there when the boat crossed.

the idea is great - light is a bit harsh but that is due to time it was taken - maybe try conversion to b&w to make that less of a problem.

Only other slight problem is that it needs cropping - I'd emphasise the central boat by cropping out on the left to make it more symmetrical.

Overall it is a good shot and a good capture just needs a little work in photoshop and it will be even better.

Like the boat in a central position and the city inbetween the two parts of the barrier. Do agree that a crop is required on the left to make it more symatrical.

I think you'vor found a good spot for a shot here, never been myself.

the light wasn't on your side though - it's a little flat really. You can add a little contrast in Photoshop, use a curve or something like that.

the boats nice as are the buildings in the background.

one tip is to make the distqance from the edge of the piers to the edge of the frame the same for both piers - you'll get a nice balanced feel then. the left gap is loasd bigger than the right one in this shot

Thanks for all the comments & for the future comments. I agree i might have to crop a bit on the left side, although cropping makes the boat slightly off centred. But agree the cropped one looks better.

I am average in PS, but after seeing your comments, I realise i need to pickup some more techniques in PS to improve, which i will do. Once again thanks for the constructive feedback.

Bump up the contrast in this - it will make quite a difference.

I like this shot so much. But must agree with all of the above. It is so worth a re shoot if you can and after you have got to grips with your levels and cropping.
Nice work
