I wanted to try something different (for me )
& thought the blue back ground made a good contrast.

Not a lot wrong with this as far as I am concerned. Try to avoid the kinks in the backdrop though. Andy

This is a very pleasing composition with the one bloom fully opened and the other not quite so far along. It is lovely that the second flower curves around the open flower to create a pleasing shape. Just including one leaf also enables you to keep the lines clean.

The exposure is generally fine but there are slight areas of overexposure on the front petals.

I think the background works fine given that you are going for a "posed" shot rather than trying to reproduce nature. I agree though with Andy that the backdrop needs to be flat - it shouldn't act as a distraction from the main action. But this is a minor point andn otherwise it is a pleasing study.

I like the textured background, a great idea, and the fact that it's darker than the roses makes it work really well. I've done a quick mod where I ironed out the bottom left corner, coloured in the white highlights, adjusted levels and sharpened. I like your composition, choice of colours and the light and shade you achieved, so just tried to give it an extra boost.

Looks like you got some great help from above and can't add much more to it... overall you did a wonderful job and the bg works well just like you thought it would.. the color of the rose is lovely
