made of gold?

By katster
This weevil posed on a marigold plant in our garden, long enough for me to take far too many pictures. It was a sunny afternoon and I was experimenting with using a gold reflector.
Think it may be a bit overdone and the colours look a bit unnatural, but would welcome any opinion/suggestions! Presumably I could "cool it down" in photoshop?

I rather like the intense coloring, it adds to the interest of this composition. There is an almost surreal quality to it that I find attractive.

I agree with the above comments, it adds that little bit extra. The gold contrasts well with the blue sky.

Good job,

Andy.

A good capture...no idea about photoshop - am still trying to fathom that, I like the gold colours Smile

Thanks for all kind comments. I've printed it out and it does look a bit surreal, or like it has been taken somewhere more tropical than UK! I'm still not sure but with my photoshop skills it will probably end up looking worse rather than better. I have about 50 more shots of this same beetle to trawl through if/when I get the chance..... taking the pictures is the easy bit!

It does look a little unnatural but I think that really enhances the image. It's slightly unsettling to have a weevil towering over you and the contrast of the brilliant golden yellows against the blue sky rather adds to that.

Cracking shot, but agree with above.
