Kevin Thornhill’s photographs tell a story or capture a moment. They evoke emotion, transporting the viewer to the original location.
He colour treats images before conversion and investigates ways to add authenticity to digital black and whites. In his work he deliberately composes certain shots for black and white conversion and uses shadow/contrast to lend an air of intrigue -- adding a vignette to concentrate the viewer’s attention.
Kevin likes the viewer’s eye to traverse the scene and he will arrange his shoots to accomplish this. He loves to see people gasp and hear them reminisce as they view his work.
His recent Parisian shoot has pleasantly reminded people of their time spent in Paris! His work has garnered comments such as “only in Paris”.
He recently had one of the images from his Manila series published in the UK-based “Lonely Planet” magazine. He is currently based in London.
