The Prayer Plant, or Maranta.
When the light is too bright and sunny, theres not much one can do but use it.

Nice simple, effective image with a lovely light. You're right - what can ya do but use it!

Any idea why it's called the prayer plant?

During the day, the leaves spread out and angle downwards. In the evening they return almost to vertical, like hands placed together, upright, in prayer.
On a quiet evening, the occasional sounds of leaves moving can be mildly unnerving.
In the picture, they are about halfway.
