Lauren, there are not many ponies sold for meat now, as the live export laws are dificult. There are probably some going illegally, but the numbers of ponies on the moor are much smaller now. The tendency is to breed skewbalds and piebalds as childrens ponies, its the pretty colours that sell, if at all. Thats actual moorland hill ponies, not pedigree dartmoors, which are seldom run on the open moor, and are a quite different market.
