Old Red Eye Is Back

By kel55
another horrible insect shot i,m afraid , was on the look out for something nice but this nasty was all i could find on the day . Home made flash tube is really helping with these shots , allowing me to hand hold and still get good dof , cheers Kel.

An amazing macro shot!!
They're only red from all the things it could have done instead
So when you look into these eyes I hope you realise
They could never be blue....

Kel, a really sharp image and tremendous close-up. Your use of your flash tube gives spectacular lighting. Well done. Brian

It's very sharp Kel, and very close. Good colour and great hear and eye detail. Actually I wonder if you either needed to be less macro to show the fly as a whole, or closer to really show the head in detail. This feels a little like a half way compromise albeit still a good image that shows off lots of skill. Only being critical to push you forward because there's lots of talent in you to come out still!

Its good, but I dont think its very sharp here. Im sure the original is, but for the site, it needs to be sharper. Ive downloaded it, and using smart sharpen in CS6, I applied 40% at a radius of 0.8 and it look great.

Remember the resizing process, and sharpening: set longest side: save as new file name, at MAX quality; Open new file; check sharpness, and adjust as needed: save, then upload.
